SI Joint Injection

The long-lasting effects of an SI joint injection can reduce pain in the sacroiliac joint over an extended period of time. For that purpose, frequently a local numbing medication is used together with soluble steroid. Using numbing medicine, these injections are also used as “blocks” to confirm a suspected diagnosis of SI joint dysfunction prior to other treatments, reaching from radiofrequency ablation of the nerves signaling the pain from the SI joint or prior to potential surgery.
